This next-generation LCD system trades the washed-out look of older electric inserts for real contrast and multi-dimensional depth, and because the fireplace is rated for covered outdoor use in addition to indoor installs, it's just as comfortable framing a media wall as it is anchoring a backyard kitchen or covered patio seating area.

The technology stack behind the flame is just as considered as the visual itself. The Modern Flames+ app delivers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smartphone control with over-the-air flame updates, an adaptive brightness sensor automatically adjusts to the room's ambient light, and integrated Bluetooth speakers let you stream your own audio or fall back on one of three built-in crackling soundscapes.
